Milan’s best local markets for shopping

Not only the fashion quadrilateral and fashion week, but when it comes to shopping Milan has no rivals. In recent years, the city has become increasingly popular in district markets where, between one stall and another, you can find vintage rarities, very high-quality garments, and, if you are lucky, even great prices.
Below is a small ranking of those that, in our opinion, are the best in the city:

Via Fauchè Market:

Located near Corso Sempione, it is one of the city’s historic markets and has, among its advantages, the fact that it is suitable for all budgets. It takes place on Saturdays, with continuous hours from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and on Tuesday mornings, from 8:30 am to 1 pm. Clearly, if you want to avoid crowds, the best day is Tuesday, but on Saturdays, the choice is greater due to the presence of numerous stalls of all kinds. Here you can find big and small brands of the best made-in-Italy brands and you can grab great sneakers as well as sweaters, coats, and dresses.

Papiniano Avenue Market

Moving to the Navigli area we find the equally popular Papiniano market. We are talking about almost a kilometer of stalls dedicated to top fashion brands. From sports shoes to classics to designer bags and accessories. A pinch of attention, on the other hand, to the items on which is marked Deadstock, which represents branded items that are new but unsold from boutiques and outlets that can therefore represent excellent bargains. Not only clothes but also fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish, the advice is to go in the early morning hours to avoid finding other shoppers intent on trying their hand at shopping. The market on Papinian Avenue takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays with hours of 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
and 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., respectively.

Market of Via San Marco

We are in the Brera area to talk about one of the most exclusive markets in the city of Milan. Here, in fact, prices are higher than other open-air markets, but this also corresponds to an increase in the quality of the products offered. In Via San Marco it is possible to find not only cashmere knitwear of the highest quality, but also bags, gloves, and other accessories of excellent workmanship. The atmosphere here is one of great exclusivity and, the location itself is very chic. The opening days here are Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Senigallia Fair.

This is perhaps the oldest flea market in the city and is thought to date back as far as the 1800s. Again we are located in the Navigli area and move among vinyls, vintage items, oriental ornaments, clothes, and accessories. If you are looking for eclectic items to show off perhaps at a social dinner this is the place to be. This market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Porta Genova Market

We remain in the Navigli area, but this time the chosen day is Sunday, except for the last of the month. In the same streets where on Saturday you can find the aforementioned Senigallia Fair, there is instead the flea market within which you can find unique and special items at very affordable prices. Not only objects but also clothes, shoes, and bags. If you are looking for items to take a plunge into the mythical 50s this is the place to be. As mentioned it takes place on Sundays with hours 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

East Market Shop

Definitely more modern than its predecessors, EM has recently moved from Lambrate to Via Mecenate. For those unfamiliar with the city we are talking about the area close to Linate airport. The first impact is that of being in London or New York, because the market, set up inside a renovated former air force factory, is a succession of colorful second-hand clothes. It is also possible to trade here, allowing participants to sell and buy at the same time. For dates, it is useful to consult the website.

Remira Market

Returning to the Monumental area we find another of the city’s modern markets Here the watchword is “sustainability” in fact nothing should be thrown away and is worthy of a second life. We go from handcrafted garments made by small creative vendors to authentic vintage by way of second-hand clothes. Blouses, jackets, pants, but also accessories and footwear. Here it is almost impossible not to find something in your own style. Remira takes place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month from 10:30 a.m. until evening.
